Can you block ads in Chrome on iPhone?
No app from the App Store can block ads in Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Opera on iPhone: Apple lets ad blockers work only in Safari. Here's what you can do instead.
Why ad blockers work only in Safari
On iPhone, content blockers are a Safari feature. Other browsers can't load them, and no app can change that. Some browsers, such as Opera and Brave, have ad blocking built into their own app.
Make Safari your default browser
- Open Settings → Apps → Default Apps → Browser App. Before iOS 18.2: Settings → Safari → Default Browser App.
- Choose Safari. Links from mail, messages and other apps now open in Safari.
- Turn on an ad blocker in Safari — see How to block ads in Safari on iPhone.
Bring your bookmarks and passwords
Export your bookmarks and history from your old browser, then open Settings → Apps → Safari and tap Import (iOS 18.2 and later). Export your passwords from the browser's settings and import the file in the Passwords app.
On a Mac, Safari imports them from other browsers (File → Import From), and iCloud brings them to your iPhone.
